The best red lipsticks

red lipsticks
the red lipsticks

The new way to wear red lipstick is like you really don't care. "This old mouth? I hadn't even noticed it was painted." That sort of thing. Instead of lining the lips with pencil, and filling them in carefully with a very tiny brush, etc, you want it slightly blurry looking, as if you're being seen through a dirty window. So no super glosses, no cupid's bows, no doll-like pouts. No neatness. Smear LancĂ´me's Rouge in Love (£21, lancome.co.uk) all over, or smudge on Armani's new velvet matte-finish Lip Maestro (£25, harrods.com) with a clean ring finger and hope for the best.
